Hello Again! I haven't been very good at blogging lately. I'm pretty sure that most of the people who read my blog are also my facebook friends - and I post all of my favorite pictures there - so blogging about them here feels like overkill. I'm much better at taking pictures of my life than writing about it.
We have been busybusybusy lately. Violet turned 5. We had a super awesome (and colorful) party for her in our backyard.
The picture below was one of my favorite things I made for her party. I spent the day before painstakingly making these jello cups. 6 layers of jello - each made and left to set up one at a time. It was time intensive - but they turned out beautifully and I definitely want to make these again. (and again)
I made the rainbow Happy Birthday banner (cut each letter out of heavy cardstock and sewed them all together with a red ribbon). I made the skirt for Violet to wear to her party - but she had other ideas about what outfit she wanted to wear (as she often does) so Lucy wore it instead.
This cake was crazy! I colored the white cake mix with 6 different colors of gel food coloring. There are a million tutorials online for how to do this. Just google "rainbow cake" if you are interested. Or, one of my favorite food blogs, Our Best Bites, has a great cupcake version Here.
We went on a trip to Wyoming with my bio mom and one of my bio sisters. It was a prefect trip. We spent our time hiking, swimming in a mountain lake, river rafting, eating delicious food, and getting to know each other. My relationship with my bio mom is moving along beautifully. It feels so comfortable and natural to spend time with her - its hard to believe I didn't even know her 5 months ago.
And finally, Lucy started 2nd grade. We are excited for the new school year. Two of Lucy's best friends from last year are in her class again this year.

Oh my goodness Lucy looked so cute for her first day of school!
YOU ARE AMAZING! You Shumway girls always go above and beyond with cooking, baking, sewing. What lucky girls you have to such talented mommies! Poor McKay! ha. ha.
I just made a rainbow cake myself and it was so much easier than I thought it would be-huzzah! Love your blog-your house is to die for!
