The first thing I did after we carefully put our new caterpillar safely in his new home (an empty Miracle Whip container) was google "poisonous caterpillar" and then "dangerous caterpillar" and then "ugly caterpillar". As far as I can tell, giant caterpillars are not poisonous or dangerous - but they are very often ugly. The girls have named this huge guy "Mocker" and he now lives on our back porch. I wonder what kind of butterfly or moth he will turn into? Anyone know? Hopefully we can keep him alive long enough to find out.
