Lucy's school is having a reading contest. The grand prize is a brand new bike. The whole school is competing against each other. The kids have to keep track of how many hours they read, and at the end of the year the 4 kids with the most hours logged get the bike. Our neighbor Eric has come over the last two days to read. I don't think they have books, so he comes over, asks if he can borrow a book, and then sits down on our couch and reads for an hour. He is 12 and has been in America for just over a year, and he reads amazingly well. He really REALLY wants that bike. I took a couple of pictures when he was here reading yesterday. Look at the way Lucy is looking at him in the first one. I think she has a little crush.

That is so cute.. She is giving him the googley eye in that first picture.. I hope he gets the bike..
That's great. I'm glad he has a mini library across the street. I hope when he moves he ends up at the same school. That would suck if he lost his minutes. Meagan's school is doing the same thing except you get a raffle ticket for every 100 minutes of reading.
You guys are so great! I hope when that family moves they will have great neighbors to help them. Is Lucy reading a lot too so she can win?
Yes, Lucy is reading a LOT. Since these guys are moving and won't be at the same school anymore, they won't really even have a chance to win. Good thing, because they would give Lucy a run for her money.
Eric is so cute! Mush, we were thinking of getting them a few things for Christmas like some soccer balls and games but do you think they would want some books?
Maire - Im sure they would love books. I wonder if someone will be doing sub for santa for them though. I need to find out. Of course, by Christmas they won't be our neighbors anymore :(
