Today was moving day for our neighbors! They found a house in Kearns. I am so relieved that they have a nice big house, with HEAT to live in this winter. The house they were in has no heat, and they have been sleeping with their coats on in the recent weeks. Their cousins came over today to help them pack everything up. We borrowed my brother's truck and took over all of their belongings, which consisted of very little furniture, but lots of rice, flour, corn oil and clothes.
While the adults were loading up the truck, a bunch of the kids came over to our house for dinner. Violet and I made Carbonara. It is one of my family's favorite things to eat. The pictures below are of Violet helping me, and of the kids enjoying it. (they all loved it and asked for seconds) Only one of the little kids in this picture is actually our neighbor - the rest are cousins. We know most of the cousins quite well too because they spend a lot of time in the neighborhood.
I have been so focused and so busy with this family for the past couple of months. (just ask my friends...I think everyone is a little sick of me talking about them constantly). But, I love them, and I am going to miss them so much. They have become a daily part of our life. We will make sure we still see them, but it won't be a daily thing anymore. I hope they have good neighbors who will look out for them in their new neighborhood. And I hope I never forget how when I busied myself in helping this sweet family, all my own stupid little problems went away. I have been feeling so positive and happy lately, and I think its largely due to the impact this family has had on me.

Michelle, That is so cool! I really needed to hear something like that today! You are amazing.
Mush, I am so glad they are in a new home. Thank you so much for helping them, I am really proud of you and Jacob. I'm glad you are planning to keep in touch with them. THey will never forget the kindness of "Mama Lucy".
You're pretty great, Michelle!
Oh my GOD. You stoop to using the plight of a poor black family to make yourself look good for 'helping' them?
Did you get parental permission to put those children's pictures on the internet? Or are you that arrogant to assume you don't need it?
anon. I hope this is a joke because if it's not then you are such a coward! You have no idea what you are talking about so please do us all a favor and pull your head out of your own ass. That might be tough because it seems like it it is stuck up there pretty far.
anonymous - you are just jealous cause I'm going to the celestial kingdom and you're not.
Anonymous.... Don't judge something you don't know. Michelle posts what she posts, because she has an interest in this family and has enjoyed interacting with and helping them. Hours and hours of interacting and helping them. They play with her kids, come over to her house, learn about each other. Getting to know people from another country, another totally different culture happens to be an amazing gift and helps one to see and appreciate what they have here. Maybe .. just maybe this is about sharing what SHE sees with the rest of the world and NOT about trying to prove that she is so amazing for doing it. Figure out who you are insulting, before you do it and hold off the judgment.
Anon is a flippin coward. Mush worked hard to help this family find a house and move into it. She has more Christlike attributes than some coward posting anon. Get a life, Anon, and stop being jealous. Mush rocks!
You are so awesome Michelle! I love seeing pics of the family and LOVE to hear how much fun it's been helping them out. Anonymous - please feel free to bite Mush's hot celestial ass.
LMBO that some anon person would make a comment like that! They are just jealous they aren't providing service to those in need. Anon should volunteer at her local soup kitchen and help the needy before judging others who do.
