So as you all know, we helped our neighbors move out of their house two weeks ago. A few days after they moved, they came back to the old house and moved a bunch of old furniture and clothes out to the curb. I saw them doing this and I went over to find out what was going on. They said that they didn't have a way to dispose of it, and that the landlord had told them to just empty the house and put everything on the curb. It looks HORRIBLE! Originally, it was all packed into large garbage bags. The bags have since all been ripped into and clothes spread about, from people rummaging through it. Today there is a contractor over there working - putting in new carpet it looks like. I went over to ask him about the mess, to see if he knew what the landlord was planning to do with it. His response? "You are welcome to go through it and take anything you'd like" Oh gee, thanks!
I can't get hold of the landlord (surprise) and I can't stand to look at the mess anymore, so Jacob and I are planning to load it all up and take it to the dump today. I wonder if the landlord would pay us if we sent him a bill?
Update:
We called Theo, the 14 year old boy in the family and he came over to help. He and Jacob are at the dump now with the first load. And, the landlord called me back. He said his guys were supposed to come today, but they never showed up. I told him that my husband was cleaning it up because we were sick of looking at it, and he offered to pay us. He isn't paying us nearly enough, but we were going to do it anyway, so I won't complain.

Hey, it's crazysheli from BBC. Could you call the city and complain? I know in my city they will write a ticket for the owner and give them only so many days to clean it up.
Hi Crazysheli!
yes, Ive called the city. I just don't know how long it will take for something to happen - and I really don't want to look at it anymore. I think we are going to try to get the 14 year old boy from the family over here to help. He might think its fun to go to the dump and stuff - and then they might learn that they can just dump their stuff on the street and have it magically go away.
I mean CAN'T dump their stuff of the street. CAN'T LOL
